During the first week in June, the Coalition
for Comprehensive School Improvement, of which Turning Points is
a member, met in Washington, DC to urge legislators to continue
funding Comprehensive School Reform. At present, CSR is zeroed out
of the 2005 federal budget, representing a loss of $308 million
in funding, and assistance to thousands of schools. As we informed
legislative staff on both sides of the aisle about the necessity
of this funding, many advised us to mobilize those who are directly
benefiting from the program. Thus, if your school has engaged in
reform using CSR money, we are urging you to get in touch with your
representatives. Fax, call and e-mail to let them know how working
with Turning Points has affected your school's environment, and
benefited teachers and students. Sample letters in support of the
